That is a beautiful park. Your climb reminded me of James and myself climbing that mountain trail in North Carolina. I know how you felt because I didn't make it to the top. If you did that climb every week you would soon be running up those steps. It was nice to see all of the things going on there, too. I'll check back later.
Doug, what a beautiful thought to climb all those stairs etc, just to give us a peek at what you are finding of beauty in China! I know you will find something to share with Tom to capture the Christmas Spirt. I still sincerely hope you will both find a way to stay at least your 1 year. The original plan. Complete it. So maybe you have to get a little goofy to keep the kids attention. Since they dont know English, how could they possibly be interested in what you are saying?
Take your collection of 'junk' food to class, open each bag talk about it, get them to say it is English, then have them to teach you in Chinese, then pass the bag and everyone enjoy. Maybe you could give them a reward when they say it right, you know, like doggie treats?
I'll bet you down on all fours giving them a ride on your back would be a hit! Maybe that is a bit much, but who knows? Depends on how old and big they are.
Yes, I agree, Tom and your relationship with him is the most important thing in your life right now, love him with all your heart.
